New York City based Psychotherapist
Hi I’m Thérèse Kempf,
A licensed psychotherapist, supervisor, and consultant based in the vibrant city of New York. My specialization lies in providing support to survivors of interpersonal violence and sexual assault and addressing racial and intergenerational trauma. In my private practice, I am a certified couples therapist dedicated to helping both individuals and couples navigate their unique challenges.
You might recognize me as a featured therapist in the award-winning "Sound It Out" campaign, which focuses on mental health for children and families. I am also prominently featured in the Netflix documentary She Did That, shedding light on Black female entrepreneurship and empowerment.
My contributions extend to writing and content creation for Alkeme Health, a Black mental health and wellness app. Additionally, I have served as a mental health contributor to reputable publications such as Forbes and Vogue.
Embracing a body-based therapeutic approach, I incorporate mindfulness and sensorimotor techniques. This allows my clients to tap into the wisdom of their bodies as a primary source of information and healing.
As a woman of color, I am deeply committed to fostering a therapeutic environment that is not only safe but also less stigmatized for people of color. This commitment is integral to my practice and reflects my dedication to inclusivity and understanding of mental health.
