Hi, I'm Thérèse.
I’m a licensed psychotherapist based in NYC and Miami, specializing in interpersonal violence, racial trauma, and complex trauma. I also work with couples living with complex trauma who struggle with intimacy, connection, and vulnerability—often challenges rooted in unresolved childhood wounds.
I first became interested in social work and community healing while living in Cape Town, South Africa, where I worked with refugees. In 2011, while completing my graduate studies at NYU, I worked as a clinical intern with asylum seekers who were survivors of torture. These early experiences deepened my commitment to trauma and PTSD. I was also simultaneously interested in couples therapy and the impact of trauma on relationships, which led me to pursue training in trauma alongside training in couples work.
I am trained in EMDR, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, and evidence-based approaches that integrate attachment and nervous system healing. Beyond the therapy room, my expertise has been featured in Forbes and Vogue. I’ve created content for Alkeme Health and contributed to national campaigns such as Sound It Out, supporting conversations about mental health, racial trauma, and healing in relationships. I also appeared as the featured therapist in the documentary She Did That, a film celebrating Black female entrepreneurship and empowerment.
As a woman of color, I am deeply committed to making therapy safer, more accessible, and less stigmatized for people of color.
